Leadership Statement
We founded Music Safety Alliance because we believe the music industry can be safer, healthier, and more compassionate.
We came together because each of us have experienced the same gaps repeating themselves: a lack of accountability, limited safety resources, no clear pathways for reporting harm or healing from it, no shared standards for how to treat one another, and little support when navigating complex power dynamics.
For too long, safety and wellbeing have been treated as optional instead of essential. Too many people, especially young professionals, independents, and underrepresented groups, have navigated this industry without the resources or structures they deserve. We share a conviction that safety is not a luxury. It is the foundation of collaboration and human dignity. The music community is ready for change, and we know that change must be led with care.
Our mission is to create a cultural shift that makes the music industry safer for everyone. We envision an industry that no longer accepts harmful behavior as part of the culture. We imagine a system built by the community where people feel heard when speaking up, where accountability is handled with fairness and compassion, and where wellbeing is integrated into everyday practice. This mission guides every program we build, every standard we set, and every partnership we form.
The progress we have made is community-driven. It belongs to every survivor who used their voice, every professional who asked for better, every ally who stood beside us, and every organization that recognized the urgency of this work. Real change happens through collective courage, driven by empathy as its fuel.
This vision is ambitious but possible because of the people who believe in it. We are deeply grateful for the partners and community who stand with us. Together, we are building something that has never existed before: a shared standard of care for the entire industry. Safety is the future of music, and we are committed to helping the industry move toward it.
